Budding playwrights unite! It's time to pen your best short play!
7am-7pm
Saturday, 22 June 2024
King St Arts Centre, PERTH
On Saturday June 22, Writing Day, a room full of keen young writers will pen for 12 hours straight, assisted by dramaturgs Sukhjit Kaur Khalsa, Donna Hughes, Emily McClean and WAYTCo’s own Amelia Burke.
Writers must be aged 15-26 and, working from the King Street Arts Centre, have just 12 hours to produce their short play. Only six writers will have their work developed for stage. The prize for winning playwrights? An Honorarium and the thrill of seeing your work put to stage the following Saturday night! Whilst writers are supported by professional dramaturgs, there is no guarantee that your work will be chosen for production.
If you are serious about being a writer for 24Hour Play Generator ’24, email artisticdirector@waytco.com by 12noon, June 14. To boost your playwriting skills in the lead up to Writing Day, sign up for Playwright’s Pathway here.
“The 24-hour Play Generator was an invaluable opportunity to distill the process of writing for the stage down to its pure essence… It was just a ridiculous amount of fun from start to finish.”
