Studio Residency

In 2026, WAYTCo is proud to offer a residency program to theatre-interested young people looking for an opportunity to develop their artistic practice.  

Who is it for?

• Current Youth Members aged 18-26 can apply under the Senior Residency category.
• You may apply as an individual or a group.

What is included in the residency?

• Access to the WAYTCo Studio after hours.
• The development timeline will ultimately be negotiated between the applicant and the company. The residency is for up to a month.
• Up to 3 mentorship sessions with WAYTCo Artistic Director may be included.
• Optional showing in the WAYTCo Studio for invited guests at residency conclusion.

What is the assessment process?

Your application will be judged on the basis of your answers to the following three questions:

• What idea would you like to develop?
• Why do you want to develop this project now?
• How would you like to structure your residency?

We are looking for clarity of idea, project relevance or capacity to meet an identified need, and evidence of planning.

Additionally:

• Provide ONE Letter of Support from an arts company or drama school. The support letter you canvass should speak to your ability to successfully complete a creative project.

There is no due by date for EOIs and all eligible applications will be considered. However, we only have capacity to accept a maximum of THREE residencies in the period 6 January to 31 December 2026.

How do I apply?

1. Read the program information carefully.
2. Make sure you are a current youth member. To sign-up for a 1 year subscription, please go to Become A Member. For group applicants, only the applicant representing the group is required to be a youth member.
3. Complete and submit the EOI form at the bottom of this page.

ALL successful applicants, and ALL members of their team (in the case of group applicants) are required to read and agree to WAYTCo’s Behaviour Agreement before commencement of any activity in the Studio.
