Fresh off the high-octane production line of WAYTCO’s wildly popular 24Hr Play Generator, two playwrights have developed their writing from time-crunched 10-minute plays to one-act-length works. What a difference a few more days makes!

The Boorloo-based young writers behind these plays have work side-by-side with local professional directors, dramaturgs and WAYTCo member performers to bring their ideas to life. Expect fresh takes, variety, and a commitment to telling stories about what matters to young people today.

The writers for Made in Boorloo 2026 are Iris Warren and Arthur Brown.

Arthur’s play is entitled Joan of Armadale and it is about a student protesting climate inaction in Boorloo by channelling the power of the first ever teenage activist: Joan of Arc.

Iris’ play is entitled Wet Season, and it follows three students trapped by a cyclone warning in detention in far north WA. They’re forced to confront the unspoken difficulties of navigating adolescence in rural Australia.

Dates: 16-19 September 2026 (with a post-show Q&A on Friday 18th)
