For budding young writers, aged 15 to 26, 24Hour Play Generator starts with ‘Writing Day’ on Saturday June 22.

Successful applicants are supported by professional dramaturgs to write a 10-minute play for consideration by the 24Hour Play Generator judging panel. Writers have 12 hours to produce their short work, and must work from within the King Street Arts Centre, where the Company’s studio is located. Judging and selection of 6 winning plays happens at the end of day.

The prize for winning playwrights? An Honorarium and the thrill of seeing your work put to stage the following Saturday night!

Our 2023 dramaturgs: Scott McArdle, Andrew Sutherland, James Berlyn and Asha Cornelia Cluer. 2024 line-up TBA.

PLEASE NOTE: Whilst you don’t have to complete our Playwright’s Pathway course to participate in Writing Day, those keen to test their playwriting skills are encouraged to participate in the course, and participants certainly come out with an advantage. Find out more about Playwright’s Pathway here.

Writing Day: Saturday 22 June 2024, 7am-7pm
