Monologue Lab

A two-session masterclass designed to elevate the work of ATAR Drama students preparing their monologues.

“We are debris arrangers. Equipped with what we have inherited, we try to make a life, make a living and make art. We are assemblers. We forge received parts into meaningful compositions. This state of affairs is our plight and our destiny, but it also offers the opportunity to find meaning as well as to find communion with others.”

~ Anne Bogart ~

Want to help your students stand out in their practical examination?

The Monologue Lab is designed to support ATAR Drama students to come up with fresh perspectives on an existing text or develop their own original monologue. This workshop taps WAYTCo’s practice of creating work with young people and achieving artistic excellence. Students will learn different approaches to developing their monologues, whether that be through text analysis, script writing or devising. WAYTCo can cover the following practitioners and how their work can be integrated into the process: Frantic Assembly, Anne Bogart, Jacques Lecoq, Jerzy Grotowski and Complicité.

Approach and content are aligned with current ATAR Drama course Aims and Assessment Criteria, and standard structure and group size can be tailored to need.

Prepare your students to take on their exams with skill and confidence, whilst maintaining a sense of fun and a love of theatre!
