WAYTCo is running a world-class training opportunity for people wanting to audition for performance training institutes such as WA Academy of Performing Arts (WAAPA), National Institute of Dramatic Arts (NIDA), Victoria College of the Arts (VCA)â€‹, and other tertiary performance training institutes.
Lead by industry leaders Chris Edmund (Former Head of Acting, WAAPA) and Julia Moody (Former Head of Voice, WAAPA), the audition workshops will cover the fundamentals of monologue performance and voice training to ensure your audition is fully developed and stands out in excellence.
Time, Dates, Location
The workshops will take place over two days, participants must attend both workshops and are to arrive 15 minutes before start time.

WHat to bring
- Two audition pieces from the WAAPA or NIDA audition lists or similar. A contemporary piece and a Shakespeare piece. These two pieces must be fully committed to memory prior to the commencement of the workshop.
- A copy of both pieces to be given to the facilitators during their work sessions.
- Loose comfy clothing to move freely in.
- Tea and coffee will be provided, BYO Lunch.

Chris Edmund was Head of the Acting Department at The Western Australian Academy of Performing Arts (WAAPA) where he had a major role in developing the world-renowned acting training for over 25 years.
Edmund was active in positioning his course internationally and directed many productions from a range of classical, contemporary and new plays. He championed new writing, commissioned works from leading writers and brought in directors of national and international standing. He has written and devised a series of major plays which have been superbly reviewed and have been published.

Actors trained under his guidance include Hugh Jackman, Frances O’Connor and Jai Courtney.

Julia Moody was Head of Voice at the Western Australian Academy of the Performing Arts (WAAPA) in Australia for 22 years where she was instrumental in designing the current voice courses in the BA (Acting) and BA (Music Theatre). Julia has also lectured at the Victorian College of the Arts School of Drama, the New Zealand Academy of Singing Dancing and Acting, and the University of Ballarat Academy of Performing Arts.
She has worked as a voice trainer and consultant with SBS TV and Radio, ABC TV, Channel 10, Open Channel Public Radio News, RTRFM, 5UV and 6PR. She has also run specially designed voice training for professionals in the corporate arena, education, theatre and film, politics, law, medicine, finance and sport.
Julia has a BA from Curtin University (Perth) and a Graduate Diploma in Voice Studies from NIDA (Sydney); is a fully accredited associate teacher of Fitzmaurice Voicework (New York); and did her actor training at the Bristol Old Vic Theatre School. She has trained with world-leading voice practitioners Patsy Rodenburg, Cicely Berry, Kristen Linklater and Linda Wise.
