Direction & Design for Young People
Direction and design for young people
This WA Youth Theatre Company short course is for emerging artists who have an interest in directing and designing for large scale theatre productions. This is a two day intensive workshop with the second half of the program to be run in 2021 which will give a hands on experience of working behind the scenes.
Join designer Zoe Atkinson (Hecate, Ghost in My Suitcase) and musical theatre and opera director Brendan Hansen (Assassins, I Am My Own Wife) as they share their industry secrets to help you develop and craft your skills, as well as provide you with the opportunity to put them into practice.
This initial intensive two day course will cover designing for theatre productions on a large scale, from stage to costume as well as directing singers and actors for music driven productions. It will look at the fundamentals of direction and design for theatre and also focus on the importance of the collaborative possibilities of directors and designers realising a shared production vision.
This course will run over two Saturdays, from 9am-5pm.
